Bronchoscopy, EBUS, Cryobiopsy & Therapeutic Bronchoscopy

From diagnosis to advanced intervention

Theory Programme
  1. Basics of Bronchoscopy — airway mapping, scope handling, anatomy and safety.
  2. Bronchoscopy-Guided Sampling — BAL, brushing, forceps biopsy and conventional TBNA.
  3. EBUS-TBNA — lymph-node stations, mapping, needle technique and specimen strategy.
  4. Advanced EBUS / EUS-B — mediastinal diagnosis, staging and emerging applications.
  5. Peripheral Pulmonary Nodules — radial EBUS, guide sheath, navigation and CBCT/robotic concepts.
  6. Cryobiopsy — transbronchial lung cryobiopsy and EBUS-guided nodal cryobiopsy.
  7. Therapeutic Bronchoscopy — cryoextraction, APC, balloon dilatation, stents and bleeding control.

Cryo + Therapeutic Bronchoscopy
Cryobiopsy, cryoextraction, APC, balloon dilatation, stent deployment and bleeding control.

Pleura & Medical Thoracoscopy

Ultrasound to advanced pleural intervention

Theory Programme
  1. Thoracic Ultrasound — pleural space, lung, diaphragm and procedural planning.
  2. Pleural Fluid Diagnostics — approach to exudate/transudate, cytology, microbiology and biomarkers.
  3. Pleural Procedures — thoracentesis, pigtail insertion and pleural manometry.
  4. Pleural Infection — empyema, complicated parapneumonic effusion and management strategies.
  5. Malignant Pleural Effusion — diagnosis, prognostic markers and pleurodesis options.
  6. Medical Thoracoscopy — indications, technique, biopsy and pleurodesis.
  7. Role of Surgery in Pleural Disease — VATS, decortication and multidisciplinary care.

Live hands-on scanning on models/volunteers.

Thoracentesis + Pigtail
Ultrasound-guided pleural fluid drainage and pigtail catheter insertion on simulators/models.

ICD + Pleural Emergencies + IPC
Intercostal drain insertion, management of complications and indwelling pleural catheter (IPC) practice.
D
Rigid / Flexi-rigid Thoracoscopy
Hands-on thoracoscopy on simulators with pleural biopsy and pleurodesis techniques.

Respiratory Critical Care & Severe Respiratory Infections

From stabilisation to survival

Theory Programme
  1. Basics of Respiratory Failure — ABG interpretation, oxygen targets, work of breathing and escalation triggers.
  2. Obstructive Respiratory Failure — acute COPD/asthma failure, oxygen, NIV, HFNC and intubation triggers.
  3. Restrictive Respiratory Failure — ILD, chest-wall/neuromuscular disease and hypoventilation.
  4. ARDS / Severe Pneumonia — lung-protective ventilation, PEEP, proning, rescue strategy and ECMO referral.
  5. CAP, HAP & VAP — rapid diagnostics, empiric therapy, resistance risk and de-escalation.
  6. Invasive Fungal Infections — aspergillosis, mucormycosis and other ICU fungal infections.
  7. Immunocompromised Host — syndromic approach, early BAL/rapid diagnostics and targeted therapy.

  2. Respiratory Allergy Work-up — history, testing, interpretation and clinical application.
  3. Choosing & Switching Biologics — patient selection, monitoring and real-world considerations.
  4. Physiology in Airway Disease — spirometry, FeNO, lung volumes and small airway assessment.
  5. SPT & Allergen Immunotherapy — indications, protocols and monitoring.
  6. ABPA & Fungal Sensitisation — diagnosis, management and long-term follow-up.
  7. Unified Airway & Comorbidities — rhinitis, CRS, atopic dermatitis, obesity and OSA.
